About the Department

The Department of Electrical Engineering was formed in the year of 2011. The Department of Electrical Engineering of Calcutta Institute of Technology offers B. Tech. and diploma Course in Electrical Engineering. The Institute is approved by AICTE affiliated to MAKAUT (formally, West Bengal University of Technology), WBSCTE. Course of Electrical Engineering has been started in academic Session 2011- 2012.

R&D activities have been started from 2012 and a numbers of Valuable papers were published from the Electrical Engineering Department since 2012-2013. The experienced and Competent Faculty members and Technical Support staff of the Department have been imparting quality Education and Training to the Students of the Institute.

The Department of Electrical Engineering at Calcutta Institute of Technology is committed to providing quality technical education, industry-oriented training, and research exposure. The department focuses on power systems, electrical machines, control systems, renewable energy, and emerging technologies to prepare students for successful professional careers.

Objectives & Outcomes

  • PEO1: To prepare graduates for successful careers in industry, government organizations, or other professional environments, including startups, by strengthening their ability to analyze and solve complex engineering problems using computational and electrical engineering systems in multidisciplinary settings.
  • PEO2: To encourage and equip graduates for higher education, research, and continuous professional development, enabling them to effectively adapt to evolving technological advancements while upholding strong ethical values and responsibilities.
  • PEO3: To develop the capability in graduates to quickly adapt to new technologies and working environments, acquire and apply emerging knowledge, and contribute effectively in multidisciplinary domains with a strong emphasis on innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship in electrical engineering.

  • PO1: Engineering Knowledge – Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and electrical engineering principles to solve complex electrical and interdisciplinary engineering problems.
  • PO2: Problem Analysis – Identify, formulate, analyze, and solve complex electrical engineering problems using principles of mathematics, natural sciences, circuit theory, electrical machines, power systems, control systems, and related engineering sciences.
  • PO3: Design and Development of Solutions – Design electrical systems, components, and processes for complex engineering problems while considering safety, reliability, sustainability, societal needs, and environmental concerns.
  • PO4: Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems – Use research-based knowledge and modern engineering methods, including experimentation, data analysis, modeling, and simulation, to investigate and draw valid conclusions for electrical engineering problems.
  • PO5: Modern Tool Usage – Select and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering tools, software, and simulation platforms for analysis, design, and operation of electrical engineering systems, recognizing their limitations.
