At Calcutta Institute of Technology (CIT), we uphold a disciplined academic and campus environment that fosters excellence in education and character building. Students are required to adhere to the following rules and regulations to maintain the integrity and decorum of the institution.

Academics

Each academic semester consists of a minimum of 80 instructional days, excluding public holidays, examinations, and vacations.
The examination structure consists of 30% internal assessment and 70% university examination.
Student progress is monitored regularly, and parents are encouraged to contact respective mentors for updates on their ward’s performance.

Attendance

A minimum of 75% attendance is required to be eligible for university semester examinations.
Students failing to meet attendance requirements must pay a fine, failing which their names may be removed from the attendance register.
Continued absenteeism for over a month will lead to debarment from the institution.
Students must clear all dues and meet attendance criteria before submitting examination forms or registering for university exams.

Payment of Fees

Tuition and other fees must be paid at the time of admission, along with post-dated cheques (PDC) for the entire session.
Foreign students must arrange for tuition, hostel, and examination fees before leaving their home country to avoid financial difficulties after arrival.
A valid receipt should be obtained from the accounts section upon fee payment.

Affiliated Hostel

Hostel admission is strictly on a first-come, first-served basis.
The prescribed hostel deposit and monthly fee must be paid at the time of application.
Roommates are jointly responsible for furniture and fittings, and any damages will be charged to them.
Students must accept the allotted room type (single/double/multiple sharing) as per availability—no changes or complaints will be entertained.
The use of electrical appliances (e.g., radio, heater, iron, tape recorder) is strictly prohibited. If found, they will be seized and a fine will be imposed.
Smoking and alcohol consumption are strictly prohibited. Any violation will lead to immediate expulsion from the hostel.
Students must not bring or store valuables inside the hostel; the administration will not be responsible for any theft or loss.
Outsiders, friends, and relatives are not allowed inside the hostel premises.
The Hostel Superintendent/Warden has the authority to enforce new rules as and when necessary.
Any violation of hostel regulations may result in dismissal from both the hostel and the college.
